Bala Falls Road Bridge Rehabilitation
The general scope of work entailed removal of the existing bridge superstructure, which was a timber deck on steel girders. Additionally, the existing piers and abutments underwent a concrete refacing. New pier caps and abutments were constructed to set the superstructure at a new elevation, then new bearings, girders, and a concrete deck was built. Beyond the structure, 150m of roadway was reshaped and graded to the new bridge elevations, completed with barrier curb and gutter plus sidewalks on both sides. New steel box beam bridge rail and SBGR was installed as well. Finally, replacement of the street lighting and under bridge lighting was completed.
